Ayodhya likely to be sunny on day of consecration, says IMD
Thursday, 18 January 2024 North India remains under the grip of fog and cold wave conditions as the consecration ceremony at Ram temple approaches. Ayodhya, where the ceremony will take place, is expected to have slightly better weather than other parts of the region. A dedicated webpage launched by India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday to provide weather-related information for Ayodhya and neighbouring areas shows that the situation in the holy city is, however, expected to be slightly better than most parts of north-west India.

Over 50 people reportedly died due to heatstroke in different parts of the country since Thursday. These deaths were reported as the temperature soared past 50 degrees Celsius in parts of North India, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar this week. On Thursday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees Celsius, 5.2 notches above normal. This came a day after the national capital recorded a 79-year high of 46.8 degrees Celsius, according to IMD data.
