Karpoori Thakur: Champion of the marginalised, Bihar's Jan Nayak

Late former Bihar CM Karpoori Thakur, pioneer of OBC politics, to be posthumously awarded Bharat Ratna on his birth centenary. Thakur was the first non-Congress socialist leader to serve as chief minister twice and introduced alcohol prohibition in Bihar. His tenure is best remembered for implementing quotas for backward classes.
