Scientists in Bengaluru discover means to tackle Covid-19 variants
Wednesday, 24 January 2024 Scientists discovered a way to fight current and future variants of SARS-CoV2 by boosting the body's antiviral defenses. They focused on enhancing antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) and found that higher levels of the AMP cathelicidin correlated with milder Covid-19 symptoms. They identified niacinamide as a potential amplifier for LL37, a naturally occurring AMP.
A legal complaint has been lodged against Tejasvi Surya, the Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate from Bengaluru South and incumbent Member of Parliament, for allegedly appealing for votes based on religious affiliations. The Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer released a statement via the microblogging platform X, asserting that Mr. Surya had shared a video on social media explicitly soliciting votes on religious grounds. The case has been officially registered with the Jayanagar police station in Bengaluru.
