Meet Delhi’s 4 remaining freedom fighters
As India celebrated its 75th Republic Day on Friday, Delhi noted that the number of freedom fighters in the city had dropped from 592 in the 1980s to just four. R Madhavan of the Azad Hind Fauz, Om Prakash, who dropped out from college to take part in the freedom movement, and sisters Subhadra and Nirmal Kanta, whose entire family fought for independence, are the only surviving freedom fighters among those registered by Delhi government’s Freedom Fighter Cell.
