SC: Accused can't be convicted merely on ground of suspicion

IndiaTimes Saturday, 27 January 2024
The Supreme Court acquitted a man in a 15-year-old murder case, overturning his earlier conviction and life imprisonment sentence. The bench, comprising Justices B R Gavai and Sandeep Mehta, stated that the prosecution failed to establish the charges, and both the trial court and Chhattisgarh High Court erred in convicting the accused without direct evidence of guilt.
