Bullet Train project to get system to detect earthquake; Japanese train makers seek more time to supply rakes

In a first, 28 seismometers will be installed for ‘Early Earthquake Detection System’ in the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train project for safety of passengers and infrastructure during earthquakes. Based on Japanese Shinkansen technology, it will detect earthquake-induced tremors through primary waves and enable an automatic power shutdown.
