One-day judicial custody for Hemant Soren; court order on ED's 10-day remand plea tomorrow
Thursday, 1 February 2024 Former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren was sent to one-day judicial custody after the court reserved the order on ED's demand for 10-day remand. Soren was arrested after resigning as CM, while Champai Soren's name was proposed as the next CM. The arrest came after a marathon seven hours of grilling by the Enforcement Directorate.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has become the third state head to be arrested, following his father Shibu Soren and Madhu Koda. The Enforcement Directorate took Hemant Soren into custody on Wednesday in connection with a money laundering case related to an alleged land scam.
