Cabinet extends by 2 years sugar subsidy for 1.9 crore poor families

On Thursday, the Cabinet approved a two-year extension for the Antyodya Anna Yojna (AAY) families distributed through the Public Distribution Scheme (PDS) until March 2026. Under this extension, the government will continue to provide a subsidy of Rs 18.5 per kilogram per month of sugar to AAY families in participating states. This extension is anticipated to benefit approximately 1.89 crore AAY families.
