Congress without a prominent face in Marathwada now
Monday, 12 February 2024 The senior leadership of Congress sensed Ashok Chavan's exit from the party. Chavan, a 5-term MLA, was elected from the Bhokar assembly constituency in Nanded district. He resigned from the legislative assembly, Congress working committee, and primary membership of the party. He was chief minister twice between 2008 and 2010.
The excitement around the Maharashtra Assembly Election is intensifying. The voters of the Bhokar seat are showing high enthusiasm. Here, former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan’s daughter, Shrijaya Chavan, is contesting as the BJP candidate. Shrijaya Chavan is testing her luck on her family’s traditional seat of Bhokar. Bhokar is a unique seat in Maharashtra where the BJP has never secured a victory. Ashok Chavan previously won this seat by a margin of over 107,000 votes. After Ashok Chavan joined the BJP, the seat became vacant.
