IAF conducts trial run on emergency landing strip with five helicopters on Jammu-Srinagar highway

The Indian Air Force conducted the first test-run of a 3.5 km emergency landing strip on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Bijbehara, Anantnag. This marked the first Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) exercise in Jammu and Kashmir. Five helicopters, including Chinooks and Mi-17s, participated in the drill, simulating troop retrieval. The Chinook helicopters showcased their heavy lifting capabilities.
