'Lip service': Supreme Court refuses to accept Ramdev apology

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 2 April 2024
SC Tuesday pulled up Patanjali Ayurved's co-founders Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna while hearing a case against them over misleading ads. Both were in court to face contempt proceedings and were directed to appear again on April 10 after filing fresh affidavits. SC said their apology in affidavits "is a mere lip service" after flouting Patanjali's undertaking not to publish misleading claims of products, and that they may have to face the consequences. SC also criticised Centre and Uttarakhand govt for "keeping their eyes shut" and giving Patanjali a long rope.
