Arvind Kejriwal Live: No necessity for arrest under PMLA a year-and-half later: CM’s counsel
Thursday, 4 April 2024
Accused of arresting CM Arvind Kejriwal to “incapacitate” AAP ahead of general elections and “turning the PMLA law on its head”, Enforcement Directorate told Delhi high court on Wednesday that it had sufficient evidence to back its allegations. Additional solicitor general S V Raju told the court that the agency was “not shooting in the dark” and that there was income-tax data, WhatsApp chats and statements of “hawala operators”.“There is some property that is already attached provisionally. Proceedings are going on. We are also wanting to attach some property of AAP. If we attach, there will be allegations that it being is done at election time. If we don’t attach, they will say where have you attached any property? This is a Catch-22 situation,” he said. After hearing both sides, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma reserved the verdict on Kejriwal’s petition challenging his arrest and subsequent remand.
