Of 1,248 sewer deaths since 1993, compensation still pending in 81 cases

Since 1993, there have been 1,248 reported cases of deaths related to sewer and septic tank incidents. Out of these, compensation has been provided in 1,116 cases in accordance with Supreme Court directives. However, as of March this year, 81 cases still await compensation. The latest data from the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis, sourced from 24 states and Union Territories.
