New infrastructure at Karwar base inaugurated by Navy chief
Tuesday, 9 April 2024 Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar inaugurated new infrastructure, including a big new dock to berth warships, at the vital Karwar naval base in coastal Karnataka on Tuesday. The complex is being further developed under Project Seabird with the goal of becoming Asia's largest such facility.
Iran’s Navy has received its first indigenous signals-intelligence destroyer, named Zagros. The ship, delivered in a ceremony attended by senior officials, is equipped with cutting-edge electromagnetic, electronic, and cyber technology. Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani hailed it as a significant achievement, emphasizing that all of the ship’s equipment was produced domestically. The Zagros enhances Iran’s naval security across critical waterways, including the Indian and Pacific Oceans, aligning with the country’s broader defense goals under Ayatollah Khamenei’s directives.
