700 inmates gets job in hotel industry, 1200 more to get employed soon: Tihar prisons chief

Tihar's Director General (prisons) Sanjay Baniwal shared that about 700 inmates are currently employed, with an additional 1,200 undergoing training for future work opportunities post-release. Speaking to PTI editors at headquarters, Baniwal, a 1989 batch IPS officer, expressed satisfaction in witnessing ex-inmates securing jobs after their time served. Since assuming the role of Tihar DG in November 2022, he highlighted initiatives such as the skill development program within the prison premises.
