Lok Sabha elections: Women candidates make up 8.6% of total candidates in Phase 2, marginally higher than Phase 1

Women account for only 8.6% of the 1,198 candidates running for 87 parliamentary seats in Phase 2, which begins on April 26. This is somewhat more than the 8.2% representation of women candidates in the 102 Lok Sabha constituencies that voted on Friday.
