SC sets aside Bombay high court order, allows raped minor to end 30-week pregnancy
Monday, 22 April 2024 Utilizing its authority granted by Article 142 of the Constitution, on Monday, the Supreme Court authorized the termination of a 14-year-old girl's 30-week-old pregnancy, reportedly resulting from sexual assault. This decision followed the recommendation of a medical board, which concluded that while terminating the pregnancy at this stage posed risks, allowing it to continue to full term posed a greater threat to the minor's life.
The Shehbaz Sharif-led government in Pakistan has decided to ban the jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, the country's Information Minister announced on Monday. The PTI is Pakistan's largest opposition party. Attaullah Tarar, the Pakistani Minister for Information and Broadcasting, announced in a press conference that the decision to ban the PTI was made due to alleged anti-state activities.
