BJP has fielded 26/11 prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam as its candidate from Mumbai North Central seat, dropping two-term incumbent Poonam Mahajan from the contest. Nikam, a prominent presence on prime time TV during the trial of Ajmal Kasab as well as during the trial of the accused in the 1993 serial blasts, is expected to be a good fit for BJP’s “tough-on-terrorism” plank.
