Thursday, 2 May 2024 ()
The Election Commission on Thursday instructed all political parties, their members, and agents to cease enrolling or registering voters for post-election beneficiary-oriented schemes under the guise of surveys. This action was taken before the third phase of Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 7. Taking note of several instances of parties seeking details of voters, EC said it has taken a “serious view of this corrupt practice of bribery” under Representation of the People Act.
