Supreme Court stays opening of road outside Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann's residence in Chandigarh

​​Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta observed that the road, which has been closed since the 1980s due to security concerns, has been opposed by both the central and Punjab governments. The court has issued a notice to the administration of Chandigarh, seeking their response by September 2, in response to a plea filed by the Punjab government. The bench acknowledged that the road was initially closed during the peak of terrorism in Punjab in the 1980s.
