Nirav Modi has bail refused for 7th time despite having spent 5 years in jail

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 7 May 2024
Indian fugitive Nirav Modi had bail refused for the seventh time at Westminster magistrates’ court on Tuesday despite claiming he would never want to abscond Britain as, if he did, he could be tracked down by Indian secret service agents who, he claimed, had targeted people in the US and Canada. Nirav has been in jail since his arrest in London in March 2019 on an extradition warrant to face trial in India for defrauding Punjab National Bank (PNB) of over $1 billion (a little over Rs 8,344 crore now) as well as interfering with witnesses and evidence.
