In a 1st for Meghalaya, female officer gets state’s DGP post

Matrilineal Meghalaya appointed its first woman police chief when governor Phagu Chauhan appointed Idashisha Nongrang as the new director general of police (DGP) on Saturday. She will assume the position on May 20 following the retirement of the current LR Bishnoi on May 19.
