Wednesday, 22 May 2024 External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday said the 2016 surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot airstrikes were a "direct message" against executing terror operations in India. Jaishankar also spoke about India's bid for a permanent seat in the UNSC, stating that "things are moving in a positive direction". UNSC has 15 members. There are five permanent members -- China, France, Russia, the UK, and the US.
