19 students from Kyrgyzstan back home after 4-day arduous journey
Sunday, 26 May 2024 Five Indian medical students from MP, including Ravi, returned home after a challenging journey from Kyrgyzstan through Almaty and Tashkent, expressing concern for their friends in Bishkek amidst the switch to online classes due to violence and the lack of security during their evacuation.
The Indian embassy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, advised Indian students to stay indoors amid reports of mob violence against international students. Recent violence escalated after footage of a brawl between Egyptian and Kyrgyz students surfaced. The Indian embassy is in communication with the students and provided a helpline. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar confirmed monitoring the situation, urging students to remain in touch with the embassy.
