13 Indians, lured into unsafe work in Laos, rescued
Monday, 27 May 2024 Thirteen Indians were lured into illegal work in Laos. They have been rescued and are now being sent back home, as confirmed by the Indian embassy in the Southeast Asian country on Sunday. In the previous month, 17 Indian workers were rescued in Laos and then repatriated to India. So far, Embassy has rescued 428 Indians from Lao PDR.
India has responded after a viral video showed US deportees, including Indians, crying for help from a hotel in Panama where they are being held. The Indian embassy in Panama confirmed that the migrants are safe, have access to basic amenities, and are under consular support. The deportees were sent to Panama as part of the US immigration crackdown, with onward repatriation being coordinated. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
