‘Error in sensor or local factors': IMD starts probing Delhi's 52.9°C

Delhi-NCR is currently facing an intense heatwave with record-breaking temperatures. The India Meteorological Department is investigating the authenticity of a temperature reading of 52.9 degrees Celsius at Mungeshpur station. Safdarjung recorded 46.8 degrees Celsius, the highest in 80 years. Temperature variations across Delhi are attributed to geography and local factors.
