IndiaTimes Sunday, 9 June 2024
In addition to the forthcoming establishment of unified tri-service theatre commands, the new government will address the long-awaited restructuring of certain Army formations into self-contained Integrated Battle Groups (IBGs) capable of rapid mobilization and powerful strikes, according to sources. The 1.2 million-strong Army has already formed two IBGs under the 9 'Pivot' Corps (headquartered in Yol) on the western front with Pakistan as part of Phase 1 of the 'pilot project.'

Abuse continued in Army after Beck's death, friend says [Video]

Abuse continued in Army after Beck's death, friend says

A friend of Jaysley Beck has said sexual abuse in the Army is still going on years after the former Royal Artillery gunner's death. The body of the 19-year-old was found in a locker room at Wiltshire's Larkhill Camp in 2021. She had been subjected to relentless harassment from her line manager, Bombardier Ryan Mason, an inquest was told. Beck had also filed a complaint against Battery Sergeant Major Michael Webber who "pinned her down" and tried to kiss her at a work social. Former soldier Tamzin Hort compared being a woman in the Army to being "a piece of meat in a tank of sharks" and that "people get sexually assaulted left, right and centre, but nothing's done about it". Highlighting a controversial incident, Rawat shares a video of Meitei Arambai militants traveling in a Meitei police vehicle and bypassing Army checkposts. He argues that central forces must intervene to stop such vehicles, which are reportedly carrying proscribed militants to target Kuki villages, fueling tensions in the region. #Manipur #IndianArmy #BSF #CRPF #MeiteiArambai #CentralForces #KukiVillages #Militants #BimolAkoijam #DIGVIJAYRAWAT #SecurityForces #ManipurConflict #IndianPolitics #MeiteiPolice #RawatStatement #ArmyCheckposts #PoliticalTensions #ViolenceInManipur #MilitantEscorts #HumanRights #NationalSecurity ~HT.96~GR.122~
