Jailed former CM Hemant Soren's wife Kalpana takes oath as member of Jharkhand Assembly
Monday, 10 June 2024 Kalpana Soren, wife of jailed ex-CM Hemant Soren, took oath as a Jharkhand Assemblymember after winning the Gandey bypoll. Hemant Soren is set to take the oath as Jharkhand's Chief Minister on November 28 after the INDIA bloc's decisive victory, winning 56 out of 81 Assembly seats. Soren resigned before staking claim to form the government and was unanimously elected as the legislative party leader by INDIA bloc MLAs. The alliance, comprising JMM, Congress, RJD, and CPI(ML), showcased its political dominance. Soren submitted his claim with MLA support, highlighting the bloc’s unity, while the NDA secured 24 seats in the elections.
