Khandu set for 5th term as BJP finalises him as Arunachal CM

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 12 June 2024 ()
BJP formalised Pema Khandu as the Arunachal Pradesh's 18th CM after leading the party to an electoral landslide. Khandu, the youngest CM at 44, thanked PM Modi and Nadda for support. This was BJP's second consecutive electoral landslide in the state with 46 seats — 10 of them unopposed — to build on its 2019 tally of 41 and leave Congress clinging to a solitary seat in its erstwhile stronghold of over three decades.

“No Direct Involvement…”, Hemant Soren Gets Bail in Land Scam Case

Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was granted bail by the High Court in a land scam case, leading to his release from jail this morning. The court found that, prima facie, Soren is not guilty and is unlikely to commit another offense while on bail. His counsel, Arunabh Chowdhury, confirmed the bail was granted on a bond of ₹50,000 and two sureties of the same amount each. Soren, leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31 on money laundering charges related to the acquisition of 8.86 acres of land in Ranchi. The court's decision followed earlier setbacks for Soren, including bail denials by both the Ranchi special court and the High Court, and the Supreme Court's refusal of interim bail. Soren has consistently denied the charges, accusing the ruling BJP of framing him to derail the opposition. COUNTERSTRIKE! India Responds To China's Arunachal move, To Rename 30 Places in Tibet

India has taken a tit-for-tat step in response to China by approving the renaming of 30 places in Tibet. This move is seen as a strong rebuttal to China's decision to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh. The renaming initiative by the Indian government comes in the wake of heightened tensions between India and China, particularly following the violent clash in the Pangong Tso area in eastern Ladakh on May 5, 2020. Since then, the two nations have engaged in 21 rounds of military talks to address the standoff but are yet to reach a comprehensive resolution. #IndiaChinaTensions #ArunachalPradesh #TibetRenaming #Geopolitics #IndiaStrikesBack #BorderDispute #SinoIndianRelations #Tibet #DiplomaticMove #NamingRights #StrategicResponse #IndiaChinaConflict #RegionalPolitics #TerritorialDispute #IndiaChinaFaceOff ~HT.97~PR.152~ED.155~

Rajkot Airport Roof Canopy Collapses After Heavy Rain, No Injuries Reported

Less than a year after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rajkot International Airport (RIA) at Hirasar village, a section of the roof canopy in the terminal’s passenger drop and pickup area collapsed following heavy rain on Saturday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and airport operations were not affected. This incident follows a similar roof collapse at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport after record rainfall. The temporary terminal, still under construction, experienced a canopy failure due to water accumulation. RIA officials are conducting an inquiry and will submit a detailed report to the Airports Authority of India (AAI). #RajkotAirport #AirportIncident #HeavyRain #Infrastructure #BreakingNews #rajkot #rains ~HT.178~ED.194~GR.125~
