CPM's anti-Muslim campaigns helped BJP win LS seat in Kerala, alleges IUML supremo

IndiaTimes Saturday, 15 June 2024
The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has criticized the ruling CPI (M), accusing it of conducting "anti-Muslim campaigns" during the Lok Sabha elections. According to IUML, these campaigns contributed to the BJP winning the Thrissur seat and making its entry into Kerala. The IUML, a significant ally in the Congress-led UDF opposition, dismissed the Marxist party’s claim that without the Left, Muslims would become second-class citizens.

Charity: Hate crime rise appalling but not surprising

The rise in both anti-Semitic and Islamophobic hate crime is "really appalling but not a surprise", says the director of policy at the Community Security Trust, a charity whose mission it is to provide safety to the UK Jewish community. Dr Dave Rich adds that the "enormous" increase has been apparent on social media and offline, exacerbated by the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th 2023, the subsequent, ongoing war in the Middle East and the anti-immigration riots that occurred in the UK over the summer.
