Monday, 17 June 2024 Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan visited Jammu to assess security and readiness, following recent terrorist attacks. At 16 Corps headquarters in Nagrota, he reviewed operations with top military leaders, focusing on strategies against escalating terrorism in the region. His visit coincides with heightened preparations for the Amarnath Yatra, emphasizing heightened vigilance and coordination among security forces amidst ongoing challenges.

In a major security development, alert Border Security Force (BSF) troops foiled an infiltration bid along the International Border in Jammu during the intervening night of April 4 and 5. Despite repeated warnings, the intruder continued to advance, prompting BSF personnel to open fire at Jammu Border Encounter. The intruder was shot dead on the spot.
