Senior BJP leader Surama Padhy elected Speaker of Odisha Assembly
Senior BJP leader Surama Padhy was elected unopposed as the Speaker of the Odisha Assembly on Thursday. Padhy, a two-time MLA representing the Ranpur assembly segment in Nayagarh district, was the only candidate for the post. Pro-tem Speaker R P Swain announced her election in a special session of the Assembly and handed over the charge to Padhy.
