SIT calls for tweaks in Gujarat Police Act after Rajkot inferno
Friday, 21 June 2024 () The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the Rajkot TRP Gaming Zone Inferno case has recommended amendments to section 33 of the Gujarat Police Act. The 100-page interim report highlighted negligence by police, RMC, and R&B officials in adhering to regulations after a fire claimed 27 lives on May 25.
A massive fire at a gaming zone in Rajkot, Gujarat, killed 28 people, including nine children. The cause is unknown. DNA samples are being used to identify victims. A Special Investigation Team is investigating, and the TRP game zone's owner and manager are detained. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep distress over the tragedy and promised assistance to the affected.
