Bihar cops arrest 6 from Jharkhand in NEET-UG 'leak' case, 19 held so far
Saturday, 22 June 2024 () Officials said the six arrested people, suspected to be "handlers" and "couriers", are residents of Bihar's Nalanda district and were holed up in Deogarh as labourers to escape detection. The arrested have been identified as Paramjit Singh alias Bittu, Baldev Kumar alias Chintu, Prashant Kumar alias Kaju, Ajit Kumar, Rajiv Kumar alias Karu, and Pinku Kumar.
Hemant Soren, executive president of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), may return as Jharkhand's chief minister. Recently released on bail after five months in jail, Soren is set to lead a crucial meeting of INDIA bloc legislators on July 3. A party source hinted at a possible "change of guard" in the state. Speculation about Soren's return has increased following the sudden cancellation of current Chief Minister Champai Soren's important programs.

Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was granted bail by the High Court in a land scam case, leading to his release from jail this morning. The court found that, prima facie, Soren is not guilty and is unlikely to commit another offense while on bail. His counsel, Arunabh Chowdhury, confirmed the bail was granted on a bond of ₹50,000 and two sureties of the same amount each. Soren, leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on January 31 on money laundering charges related to the acquisition of 8.86 acres of land in Ranchi. The court's decision followed earlier setbacks for Soren, including bail denials by both the Ranchi special court and the High Court, and the Supreme Court's refusal of interim bail.
