UAPA tribunal backs 5-year ban on 2 pro-Pak outfits in J&K
Saturday, 22 June 2024 () Unlawful Activities Tribunal upheld Centre's ban on MLJK-MA and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat for 'anti-India activities' in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Delhi High Court granted bail to activist Sharjeel Imam in a sedition and UAPA case related to inflammatory speeches at Jamia and AMU. Imam has served half of his sentence but remains jailed due to another case involving the 2020 Delhi riots. His speeches, while not directly inciting violence, were deemed to have mobilized public unrest leading to the riots.
