Group of OBC docs wants to relinquish quota to help others
Monday, 24 June 2024 Dr. Rahul Ghule, a 40-year-old from the Vanjari community, wants to give up the OBC-NT quota benefits due to his financial stability, sparking a 'Leave reservation, unite society' campaign amid the Maratha-OBC quota conflict.
Eknath Shinde has stepped down as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra following the Mahayuti alliance’s resounding victory in the assembly elections. Shinde submitted his resignation to Governor C P Radhakrishnan, who requested him to serve as a caretaker CM until a successor is appointed.
The spotlight now shifts to the selection of the next chief minister, with BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and Shinde both emerging as contenders. The BJP, which secured 132 seats to become the single-largest party, has bolstered its claim to the top post. However, the Shiv Sena, led by Shinde, is demanding continuity in leadership, citing coalition precedents and support from the party’s MLAs and the Maratha community.
