Uttar Pradesh government eases building regulations to boost hotel industry

The Uttar Pradesh government has amended building construction laws to boost the hotel industry within the state, following years of high tourist turnout. This change, led by CM Yogi Adityanath, revises the 2008 Building Construction and Development Byelaws, making it easier to open small hotels. According to the government order issued on Friday, a minimum of six rooms is now required for a building to qualify as a hotel. There will no longer be a minimum land area requirement for hotels with 6 to 20 rooms, provided they comply with byelaw rules.
