Climate change causing more frequent and deadly lightning strikes: Scientists

Increased thunderstorms and lightning due to climate change recently killed 43 in Uttar Pradesh and 21 in Bihar. Victims were mainly outdoors. Scientists attribute this to global warming and increased convective clouds. Higher temperatures cause more thunderstorms, while vertical cloud extension and 7% more air moisture per 1°C rise heighten lightning. The Damini app provides vital warnings.
