No more backing out! Penalty up to Rs 7 lakh, 3-year ban, Karnataka govt raises stakes for cancelled PG medical seats

IndiaTimes Friday, 19 July 2024
The Karnataka state govt has introduced strict penalties and bans for cancelling PG medical and dental seats. A fine of up to Rs 7 lakh and a 3-year ban on taking new courses are now in place for candidates who surrender seats after the admission deadline. The amendment aims to prevent seat wastage and encourage responsible decision-making. Both regular and in-service candidates are affected by the new rules. The Director of Medical Education, Dr. Sujatha Rathod, believes these changes will have a positive impact on the system.
