Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya supported the Yogi government’s demand for eateries on the Kanwar Yatra route to display owners' names, while accusing the opposition of indulging in appeasement politics. He suggested opposition members should join the yatra to cleanse their sins. Despite rift rumours with CM Adityanath following the LS poll debacle, Maurya continued his duties. At an event in Prayagraj, he planted a sapling and endorsed a drive aiming to plant 36.50 crore saplings statewide, 85 lakh in Prayagraj. He linked human actions to lack of rain, stressing tree planting to ensure future Kumbh events.
