25 years on, Kargil man who tipped off Army awaits relief for 18 yaks eaten by Pak intruders, civilian honour

Tashi Namgyal was tending his flock of sheep and yaks when he noticed something unusual in the sunny heights of Kargil. It was the first week of May 1999. Namgyal spotted Pakistani intruders along the LoC in Batalik sector, overlooking the crucial NH-1A highway that connects Jammu with Kashmir Valley, and promptly informed local Army unit. The rest is history.
