Road leading to China border washed away in Uttarakhand

The national highway connecting Joshimath with Malari and Niti villages on the Indo-China border was washed away Thursday at Miram, approximately 5km from Joshimath town, completely halting traffic on the strategic route. "A 20-metre stretch of the Joshimath-Malari-Niti National Highway (NH-107B) in Chamoli was washed away on Thursday morning after the retaining wall collapsed due to incessant showers throughout the night," said Nand Kishore Joshi, disaster management officer of Chamoli.
