Disbanded in 1932, Mumbai Police's horse-mounted patrolling unit to trot back into city

The state government approved over Rs 38 crore for a mounted police unit in Mumbai, enabling the acquisition of 30 horses and the establishment of a stable in Andheri. The unit, disbanded in 1932 and briefly reinstated in 2020, faced challenges due to high maintenance costs and the pandemic. Retired officers raised feasibility concerns.
