Wayanad landslide tragedy: Kerala govt’s promise ‘safe’ township for survivors
Saturday, 3 August 2024 () On Saturday, CM Pinarayi Vijayan announced that the Kerala government would construct a township in a safer zone to rehabilitate those who lost their homes and land in the Wayanad landslide. The ongoing discussions aim to find a secure location for the township, focusing on well-planned resettlement. Free ration will be provided to people in Mundakkai and Chooralmala. Currently, 10,042 people are in 93 relief camps in Wayanad. Rescue operations are nearing completion, with 866 police officers and additional units deployed. Efforts are also being made to maintain uninterrupted education for affected children.
