Only 1,000 buses for 75 lakh Amdavadis!

In Ahmedabad, the population surged from 35 lakh in 1990 to 78 lakh in 2024, yet public transport buses increased marginally from 931 to just over 1,000. Despite the Centre recommending 60 buses per 1 lakh residents, Ahmedabad falls significantly short. The BRTS, launched in 2009, struggles with low ridership as two-wheelers dominate, leading to higher accident fatalities.
