No plan to hike property tax, BMC tells Maharashtra govt

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to issue property tax bills for 2024-25 without revising the rates. The last increase was in 2015-16, and proposed hikes in 2020-21 and 2022 were rejected. BMC believes consecutive annual hikes could burden citizens. Property tax remains BMC’s primary revenue source after octroi was replaced by GST in 2017.
