A Delhi court sentenced a young man, who was 16 at the time of the crime, to life imprisonment for raping and murdering a five-year-old girl in 2017. Initially tried as an adult, the court noted his lack of remorse and the potential risk of him committing further crimes. Despite limited education, the court emphasized the necessity of both education and employment for his reformation during incarceration. The court also awarded Rs 17 lakh in compensation to the victim's family for their trauma, underscoring the severity of the offenses committed.
