8,000 Maharashtra resident doctors to join strike after Kolkata rape-murder

This action supported RG Kar Medical College's residents in Kolkata following the rape and murder of a trainee doctor. Senior medical staff would manage hospitals, with elective surgeries on hold. The protests aimed to spotlight doctors' security concerns and demand a transparent investigation.
