Mumbai: Public transport out of favour, cars & scooters rise in flavour

Despite the near tripling of private vehicles in Mumbai over the last 15 years, public transport usage has declined. Factors such as inadequate expansion of rail and bus networks, lack of integration with urban development, and improved road infrastructure encouraging private vehicle use were cited as reasons for this trend. Experts recommend enhancing public transport options to reverse the decline.
