Delhi HC asks DoE to issue circulars in Hindi too for EWS admissions
Tuesday, 3 September 2024
The Delhi High Court directed the Directorate of Education (DoE) to issue admission-related circulars for the EWS category in Hindi, noting that many parents from economically weaker sections are not well-versed in English. The court highlighted a case where a child was denied admission under the EWS category due to the absence of a valid income certificate. The parents were unaware of this requirement due to language barriers. Despite this observation, the court declined relief to the child, whose parents had sought an order for admission after missing the income certificate renewal.
